This time I came to the Pearl River New Town to stay in Guangzhou. I purposely avoided the crowded online hotel in the core area of the Pearl River New Town and stayed in Guangzhou Boyi Hotel for three days. There was no fancy marketing gimmicks. It was all about the details of accommodation in the daily needs, which directly filled my liking for accommodation in Guangzhou.
When I first arrived at the store, it was evening and I was walking from Tianhe Park subway station with my suitcase. Along the way, the old banyan trees covered the sunset, and even the wind was filled with the fragrance of ginger and milk from the sugar water shop at the entrance of the alley. There was no perfunctory process at the front desk when checking in. The staff handed me the room card and gave me two free self-service laundry vouchers. They also reminded me that the higher floors had better views and helped me upgrade to a quiet room on the inner side for free. They even remembered my small habit of being afraid of noise that I casually mentioned.
The moment I pushed open the door, my first impression was that there was no deliberate accumulation of internet celebrities, it was all about a comfortable lifestyle. The lighting of the entire room has been designed in a layered manner. The hallway light at the entrance, the reading light at the bedside, and the ambient light by the window can be adjusted separately. At night, if you want to sit on the sofa and watch a drama, you can turn on the warm yellow ambient light. If you need to make some changes, you can turn on the cold light desk lamp on the desktop, which is completely different from many hotels where the main light is so bright that it shakes your eyes. The softness and hardness of the mattress were adjusted just right, providing a stable and supportive feeling for the waist. I stayed up for two consecutive days until I fell asleep a little bit, and the next day I didn't feel any back pain at all. There were also two types of pillows, high and low. For those with poor cervical spine, I chose a low pillow and slept until dawn.
The details of the bathroom are the most surprising, with a complete separation of dry and wet areas. The top of the shower area sprays water evenly like spring rain, with hot water coming out in just 3 seconds, eliminating the need to wait inside for half a day. The countertop of the washbasin has enough space, and all the skincare products and makeup remover I brought are placed on it without squeezing. The storage cabinet under the table hides a hair dryer, spare towels, and even disposable bath salts. Even the makeup remover cotton I forgot to bring was delivered to my room in just two minutes by calling the front desk. The most intimate thing is the small floating window beside the window, which is paved with soft cotton pads. At night, after taking a bath, you can sit up in a bathrobe. Looking up, you can see the lights on the skyscraper in the Pearl River New City in the distance. Nearby, there is the smell of food floating on the roof of the old community. The mixture of old and new Guangzhou fireworks has suddenly spread out.
The public areas of the hotel are also not perfunctory at all. The leisure area on the second floor is equipped with free lemonade and cookies, which can be picked up when you go downstairs hungry after midnight. The self-service laundry room is equipped with laundry detergent and fabric softener, so you don't have to go downstairs to buy them yourself. After washing, you can dry them directly, and the clothes you take out have a faint fragrance.
After staying for three days, there were no decorations that were "mediocre but useless", and every detail seemed to have anticipated the real needs of the guests. You can take the subway to Pazhou Exhibition Hall without changing lines, completely avoiding the Huangpu Avenue, which is the most congested section in the morning and evening peak. On my first day, I attended a client meeting at 9am, so I didn't have to take a taxi an hour in advance. I leisurely finished breakfast and walked to the subway station, appearing at the entrance of the conference room on time. The hotel also provides free printing services. If you want to bring a project plan the next day, you can send a file at the front desk the night before and pick it up the next day without having to search for a printing shop at night.
The business king room I booked completely hit all the pain points of business travelers: a 1.2-meter-wide dedicated office area was left by the window, the Ethernet interface was buried directly under the desktop, and there was no need to pull the charging cables all over the floor. I held a cross-border video conference for two consecutive nights, and the internet speed was stable throughout the entire process without dropping a single cable. The sound insulation in the room is particularly solid, even if there is the noise of a late night snack stall downstairs, closing the door leaves only a quiet working environment, and the idea of changing the plan will not be interrupted at all. In the busy evening, I can walk for 10 minutes to Tianhe Park and walk around the lake for 20 minutes to relieve the exhaustion of the day's work. The alley downstairs is full of affordable food shops run by Lao Guang, where you can get well prepared roasted meat rice for only 18 yuan, without having to eat the business meals that are often around 50-60 yuan in the commercial district, which directly reduces the cost of business trips.
